Healing Foods for Families
Nut exposures 🥜
It is recommended to exposure kids to allergens as much as possible to assist in them not developing a food allergy.
I find the easiest way to do this is to add nut meal to meals.
Picture below of a porridge with hazelnut meal and pancakes with almond meal .
My son is 1 and I know there are no known allergies so I can serve these at the same time.
If you are introducing foods for the first time you might want to do one at a time so you can identify if there is a reaction.
The meal equation.
2X safe food that your child eats
1-2 x foods your child sometimes eat
1x exposure food
In addition to a little friend on the plate and some fun 🤩
Magical beans and the power of books 📗 The last two weeks before ballet my toddler has read “Jack and the Beanstalk”. At lunch she started to pop the seeds out of the green beans. Something she has never really done before and was eating them. I asked her “that looks fun, why are you just eating the little beans”? Her response was, “they are magical beans like the giant book”. I had no idea what she was going on about, until a good 10 minutes later on when it clicked. JACK AND THE BEANSTALK! This isn’t the first time a book has influenced her food choice or exploration. Reading books with food in them can be a positive food exposure moment.
